Ask most people what a charging station is made of and they will describe the chargers. But a charger is only the last metre of a much longer chain. Before any vehicle can plug in, medium-voltage supply has to be transformed down, protected, metered and distributed to each bay.

That equipment is where projects most often stall. The chargers arrive on time; the distribution board is quoted by a third party, delivered late and specified to a different standard. We have watched it happen on enough projects to decide to build it ourselves.

Ten cabinet configurations

Our power distribution cabinet range covers ten configurations — LV, AC and DC distribution cabinets, power distribution panels, switchgear cabinets, outdoor and compact cabinets, metering cabinets, feeder pillars and battery distribution cabinets.

Indoor and outdoor variants are available. Busbar rating, breaker selection, metering and circuit counts are specified to match your single-line diagram, not pulled from a fixed catalogue.

Ten transformer types

The transformer range spans dry-type, cast resin, oil-immersed, pad-mounted and compact substation units, plus step-down, isolation, three-phase and single-phase configurations.

Which one suits a site depends mostly on where it sits. Dry-type and cast resin units suit indoor rooms and basements where fire load matters. Oil-immersed and pad-mounted units suit outdoor installation and higher ratings. Compact substation transformers combine transformer, switchgear and distribution in one weatherproof housing — the practical choice where there is no room for a substation building.

Why this matters for a charging project

One supplier, one specification. When the chargers, the distribution and the transformer come from the same manufacturer, they are specified against the same single-line diagram and the same destination-market standards. Interface problems get solved on paper rather than on site.

One delivery schedule. Charging equipment sitting in a yard waiting for a distribution board is dead capital. Sourcing both from one place removes a coordination point.

One point of accountability. If something does not work, there is no argument about whose equipment is at fault.

Where this fits

This is the same reasoning behind our EPC capability. A charging site is an electrical installation before it is a charging installation, and the parts that are invisible to the driver determine whether it gets commissioned on time.

We are not claiming the distribution cabinet is the exciting part of a project. It is the part that decides whether the exciting part works.
